Tisinec (until 1927 Slovak and "Tešinec" or "Tyšinec"; Hungarian Tizsény - to 1892 Tisinyec ) is a municipality in the north- east of Slovakia with 545 inhabitants (December 31, 2019), which for Okres Stropkov , a circle of Prešovský kraj heard.

Tisinec

The village is located in the Ondavská vrchovina mountains within the Low Beskydy Mountains in the Ondava Valley , above the mouth of the Chotčianka into the river. The center of the village is at an altitude of 195  m nm and is two and a half kilometers from Stropkov .

Neighboring municipalities are Duplín in the north, Krušinec in the northeast and Stropkov in the east, south and west.

history

Roman Catholic Church in the village

Tisinec was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1379 in relation to a barter between the Cudar family and the Ákos family as Tyzen . The place belonged to the Makovica dominion . In 1427 no taxes were levied locally. In 1787 the village had 23 houses and 346 inhabitants, in 1828 there were 35 houses and 279 inhabitants who were employed as fishermen, farmers and cattle keepers.

The place in Sáros County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary until 1918 and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.

population

According to the 2011 census, 399 people lived in Tisinec, including 381 Slovaks , seven Russians , two Ukrainians and one Roma and one Czech . One resident indicated a different ethnic group and six residents gave no information about the ethnic group.

335 residents committed to the Roman Catholic Church, 31 residents to the Greek Catholic Church, five residents to the Orthodox Church, three residents to the Evangelical Church AB and one resident to the Evangelical Methodist Church. Four residents were non-denominational and the denomination of 21 residents was not determined.

  • Jewish cemetery on a hill north of the village, was used by the Stropkov Jewish community before the completion of a Jewish cemetery in Stropkov in 1892
