Kračúnovce (until 1927 Slovak and "Kračonovce"; Hungarian Karácsonmező ) is a municipality in the northeast of Slovakia with 1,248 inhabitants (December 31, 2019), which in Okres Svidník , a circle of kraj Prešovský lies and traditional landscape Šariš is counted.
geography
The municipality is located on the southern edge of the Low Beskids in the Topľa valley . The town center is located at an altitude of 198 m nm and is two kilometers from Giraltovce , 26 kilometers from Prešov and 32 kilometers from Svidník .
history
Kračúnovce was first mentioned in writing in 1347 and was probably founded around 1300 by a mayor . The village belonged to a manor that had its seat in the neighboring town of Chmeľov and was ruled for many years by the Semsey family. In 1427 a tax of 33 Porta was due. However, after that many farmers emigrated or the buildings fell into disrepair, so that in 1588 only a tax of 5.5 Porta was levied. In 1600 there was a mill, a parish, a school and a church. In 1828 there are 63 houses and 479 inhabitants.
Until 1918, the place in Sharosh County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.
