Helga von Loewenich (* 1943 on Lake Constance ) is a German artist.

Life

She attended the art academies in Nuremberg and Munich and in 1972 spent a guest semester at the Belzalel Academy in Jerusalem . Further study visits followed in Prague and Warsaw . She is u. a. Member of the Federal Association of German Artists. Von Loewenich works as a research assistant at the Jewish Museum in Berlin and lives in Berlin .

The visual dialogue with works of poetry and music is the basic theme and focus of her artistic work and is designed in watercolors, collages and other techniques. Examples of this are her works on poetry by Rose Ausländer , Reiner Kunze , Paul Celan , Else Lasker-Schüler , Selma Meerbaum-Eisinger and Hilde Domin .

Helga von Loewenich was u. a. Representative of Germany in the competition "Women Painters in Europe" in 1995. She participated in the conception of the exhibition "History and Culture of the Jews in Bavaria" in the Germanic National Museum in Nuremberg. Some of her works were purchased by the Art Commission of the German Bundestag.

In cooperation with the German Embassy in Israel, the artist's works were presented in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv in 1996 and 2000. In 1997 she was awarded the Rabbiner Seligmann Meyer Prize for her work. In summer 2000 she led an art education project with young people in Baku .
