Helmut Hempfer (born October 2, 1928 in Haag ) is a German Roman Catholic theologian , pastor i. R.

Life

Helmut Hempfer studied philosophy and theology at the Philosophical-Theological University of Freising , later at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University and at the Ducal Georgianum in Munich . Cardinal Joseph Wendel ordained him on June 29, 1954 in Freising Cathedral as a priest for the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising . From 1954 to 1958 he was a chaplain in St. Nikolaus in Mühldorf , and from 1958 to 1962 as a chaplain in St. Ludwig in Munich.

From 1962 to 1969 he was the archbishop's secretary and worked closely with Cardinal Julius Döpfner , at the same time as Gerhard Gruber . At the time of the Second Vatican Council , Gruber was mainly entrusted with Roman affairs, Hempfer with the affairs of the archdiocese. Helmut Hempfer accompanied Julius Döpfner from June 19 to 21, 1963 to the conclave that Pope Paul VI. chose.

From 1969 to 1976 he was parish priest of St. Clemens in Munich, from 1976 to 1999 parish priest of St. Ludwig in Munich.

From January 12, 1978 to August 31, 1999, Hempfer headed the archbishopric dean's office at Munich-Schwabing as dean for several terms. 1979–1983 he was a member of the 4th Council of Priests of the Archdiocese.

Since the beginning of his retirement, from 1999 to 2005 he performed part-time priestly service in a retirement home. In addition, he worked on a voluntary basis in the direction of lectures at the senior citizens' course at Ludwig Maximilians University, which was initiated by Eugen Biser after his retirement in 1987 and led until 2007. Since then he has been working part-time in the pastoral care of the Cathedral of Our Lady .
