Henry Liebmann

Henry Liebmann , actually Heinrich Liebmann, (born December 6, 1836 in Schmiedelfeld , † March 27, 1915 in New York ) was a German entrepreneur and one of the presidents of Liebmann's Sons Brewery in Brooklyn .

biography

Heinrich Liebmann was born in 1836 to Samuel Liebmann and Berta Liebmann (née Fröhlich). At that time, his father was the owner of Schloss Schmiedelfeld . In 1840 the family moved to Ludwigsburg and ran the “Zum Stern” inn with an attached brewery. Like his brother Charles , Henry Liebmann attended high school.

After the father decided to emigrate to America for political reasons , Liebmann's brother Joseph was sent ahead in 1850 to build a new home. This settled in Williamsburg .

The rest of the family followed four years later. In their new home, the Liebmanns initially ran the old Maasche Brewery. The family later built a new brewery in Bushwick - the S. Liebmann Brewery .

After the death of their father Samuel Liebmann in 1872, his sons took over the management of the brewery and renamed it S. Liebmann's Sons Brewery. The Liebmann brothers changed positions as Chief Executive Officers every year. From the three brothers, Henry took over the post of chief brewmaster . In 1903 the Liebmann brothers retired and handed over management of the company to six of their sons.

Liebmann died in New York in 1915 .
