Herbert neighbor

Herbert Nachbar (born February 12, 1930 in Wieck near Greifswald ; † May 25, 1980 in East Berlin ) was a German writer .

Life

Herbert's neighbor was the son of a fisherman . From 1936 to 1940 he attended elementary school in Wolgast , then the teacher training college in Pasewalk . After a short time as an apprentice electrician , he was a student at a high school in Rostock , where he graduated from high school in 1950 . Neighboring one began studies of medicine at the Humboldt University of Berlin , which he after two semesters, dropped out. Until 1953 he worked as a local reporter and editor for various East Berlin daily newspapers , then as an editor for the Aufbau Verlag . From 1957 he was a freelance writer . Neighbor lived in different places: until 1959 in Freesenort on the island of Ummanz , from 1960 to 1963 in East Berlin, from 1963 to 1969 in Graal-Müritz and from 1969 again in East Berlin. From 1968 he was chief dramaturge at the Volkstheater Rostock , later at GDR television in Berlin. His death was the result of a serious illness that had made him dependent on a wheelchair since 1978.

Neighbor was a member of the Writers' Union of the GDR and the PEN -Zentrums the GDR .

Herbert Nachbar was married to the painter Brigitte N. Kröning since 1951 . In 1955 daughter Sabine and 1964 son Robert were born.

He was buried in the artist department of the Berlin Central Cemetery in Friedrichsfelde .

Artistic creation

Herbert Nachbar was the author of novels , short stories and television scripts . In his early novels he described life in fishing villages on the Baltic coast ; later he expanded his range of topics and processed some of his own experiences in his books. Some of his late works are influenced by legends from the Baltic Sea region and Scandinavia and have fantastically romantic features.
