Hermann Josef Kugler
Hermann Josef Kugler OPraem (born September 11, 1966 in Lauingen an der Donau ) is a Roman Catholic religious . He is the abbot of the Premonstratensian monasteries Windberg and Roggenburg .
Life
After graduating from high school in 1985, Hermann Josef Kugler entered the Windberg Monastery of the Premonstratensian Choirs as a novice . He studied theology at the KU Eichstätt and the University of Augsburg . In 1988 he moved to the Roggenburg Monastery , officially the priory of Windberg Abbey, and made his perpetual profession in 1989 . In 1992, he received in Windberg the ordination through Frantisek Lobkowicz OPraem, Bishop of Ostrava-Opava . He was initially beneficiary vicar, from 1996 parish administrator inWeissenhorn . In 1998 he became dean of Neu-Ulm , from 2003 regional dean of the Neu-Ulm region.
On November 9, 2003 he was elected the 47th abbot of the Premonstratensian Abbey of Windberg. He succeeded Thomas Handgrätinger , who was elected Abbot General of the Premonstratensian Order in Rome. The benediction was donated to him on January 17, 2004 by Gerhard Ludwig Müller , Bishop of Regensburg. His motto is "Cum Caritate Servire". In 2013 he was confirmed in office.
In 2006 he was appointed administrator of the Speinshart monastery .
Hermann-Josef Kugler OPraem was elected on June 14, 2010 at the general assembly in Vallendar as chairman of the German Conference of Superiors of Orders (DOK) , the official representative of all Roman Catholic religious orders in Germany. In this role he is a member of the supervisory board of the Liga Bank .
In 2009 he was appointed Grand Officer of the Order of Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem by Cardinal Grand Master John Patrick Foley and invested on September 16, 2009 by Reinhard Marx , Grand Prior of the Order. From 2011 to 2019 Kugler was Prior of the Bavarian Order Province of the Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem. In 2015 he became the first honorary member of the Academic Association Suebo-Danubia Ulm in the CV .
Kugler is an expert on the life and work of Saint Hermann Joseph von Steinfeld and Bishop Anselm von Havelberg .
