Count Wilhelm zu Dohna-Kotzenau

Count Hermann Burggraf von Dohna-Schlodien, Count zu Dohna-Kotzenau (born November 10, 1809 in Kotzenau , Lower Silesia , † October 13, 1872 in Wiesbaden ) was a large German landowner in the Kingdom of Prussia. As a National Liberal , he was a member of the Reichstag before and after the establishment of the German Empire .

family

The father was Wilhelm August Gottlob Burgrave of Dohna-Schlodien (1769-1837). The mother was Henriette Friederike Auguste geb. Countess of Reichenbach-Goschütz from a princely family (1785–1839). He himself married Countess Marie von Nostiz (1813–1888) in 1835 . He had eight children with her:

Life

He attended grammar school in Großglogau and then studied law at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg and the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität zu Berlin . After the inheritance of the paternal property, he devoted himself to their management. These included the lords of Kleinkotzenau and Großkotzenau and the Sebnitzer manors .

In addition, he participated intensively in political and parliamentary life in Prussia. In the reaction era he openly acknowledged his liberal stance. He was a member of the Prussian House of Representatives . From 1866 to 1867 he represented the constituency of Lüben-Glogau and in 1871/72 the city of Breslau . Since 1867 he belonged to the Reichstag of the North German Confederation and then to the German Reichstag . He was a member of the National Liberal Party. He was particularly committed to the interests of workers. To this end, he wrote various writings. That is why he was known in the population as the "red count".
