Heyerode is a district of Sontra in the Werra-Meißner district in northern Hesse .

geography

The state road 3249 runs through the village. Heyerode is located west of the core town of Sontra.

history

The place was first mentioned in 1254. At that time the village was called Henrot , later villa Heyenrode and Heigenrod . Around 1500 hops were grown around Heyerode. The place belonged to the court "Schemmermark" in the office of Spangenberg .

Heyerode was incorporated into Sontra as part of the regional reform in Hesse on December 31, 1971 .

religion

Heyerode forms a Protestant parish with Berneburg and Diemerode . The church has a mighty defense tower . The nave was added in 1777.
