Hochholz-Kapellenbruch is a nature reserve and a supplementary landscape protection area between Malsch , Rauenberg , Wiesloch and Sankt Leon-Rot in the Rhein-Neckar district in Baden-Württemberg . It belongs to the natural area Kraichgau - Hardtebenen and includes the three sub-areas Dörnigt , Kehrgraben system and Bruchwald, Watzenbruch and street meadows .

Characteristics

The area was designated as a nature reserve by ordinance on February 10, 2011 and is listed under the protected area number 2.143 at the Karlsruhe Regional Council. It has an area of ​​263.7 hectares. The nature reserve is classified in IUCN Category IV, a biotope and species protection area. The WDPA-ID is 163707 and corresponds to the European CDDA code and the EUNIS number.

The protection purpose is the preservation and promotion:

  • the near-natural foothills of the Kinzig-Murg-Rinne;
  • the meadow areas that are well structured by bushes and humid by slope seepage water, slope springs and high groundwater;
  • the forests with largely natural and well-developed forest communities;
  • a system of ditches with well-developed reed, reed and tall perennial borders and a unique flora and fauna;
  • the plant and animal communities linked to the multitude of biotope types and their individual plant and animal species;
  • the diversity, uniqueness and beauty of the natural furnishings.
