The Hockenheimer Rheinbogen nature reserve, consisting of 30 sub-areas, is located in the area of ​​the communities Altlußheim and Ketsch and the city of Hockenheim in the Rhein-Neckar district in Baden-Württemberg .

The area extends west of the core city of Hockenheim between the west-flowing Rhine and the east-running B 39 on both sides of the A 61 .

meaning

For Altlußheim, Hockenheim and Ketsch, a 640.4 hectare area has been designated as a nature reserve under the identification number 2.128 since January 29, 1990 . These are biologically diverse secondary wetlands (mainly brickworks pits ) that have developed into habitats of high ecological importance in the cultivated landscape. This includes remnants of previously extensive grassland areas and vegetation of the secondary waters , which are adapted to different moisture levels: ditches, reed beds , remnants , meadows , bushes, hedges and forests with numerous endangered or endangered plant species, insects , amphibians and bird species.
