The Bopser , also called High Bopser , is 485.5  m above sea level. NHN high elevation on the Filder plain in Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg .

The mountain is, among other things, the location of the Stuttgart TV tower , the Stuttgart-Degerloch water tower , the Waldau sports center and the Heslach tunnel .

Bopser is also the name of the district in the south of Stuttgart .

Geographical location

The Bopser rises south of downtown Stuttgart on the wooded Filder plateau between the (alphabetically sorted) city districts of Birkach , Degerloch , Ost , Sillenbuch and Süd or is part of them:

The district of Birkach and the Schönberg district are a little further away in the south-southeast, on the mountain. The Degerloch district is located with the Degerloch district (of the same name) , in the west-southwestern hilltop area, and with its districts Hoffeld , a little further away in the south-west, Tränke , a little further away in the south, Waldau , in the south-eastern hilltop area, and Haigst , in the northwest, on and on the mountain. The district Stuttgart East expands with the district woman's head (on the woman's head located) from the eastern tip region downward, and the district Sillenbuch with the (same) district Sillenbuch , from the southeastern tip region down, on and around the mountain of. Stuttgart-Süd is located with the districts of Bopser , including Weißenburgpark at the north foot , from the northern summit area downwards, and Weinsteige , in the northwest, on the mountain. The district borders Bopser , Sillenbuch and Waldau hit the north of Stuttgart's TV tower located Jahn street corner Kirchheimer Straße another. Around 250 m east of it, the boundaries of the districts of Bopser , Frauenkopf and Sillenbuch meet at the corner of Jahnstrasse and Mittlere Filderstrasse , and the districts of Bopser , Degerloch , Haigst and Weinsteige border each other around 200 m west of the highest point of the Bopser at the corner of Jahnstrasse and Ahornstrasse .

The highest point of the Bopers is at the intersection of Jahnstrasse and the Königstrasse side street . Its forest areas are called Armenkastenwald , Hospitalwald , Oberer Wald , Silberwald , Spitalwald , Weißtannenwald and Wernhalde . These are criss-crossed by numerous forest trails, including Upper and Lower Bospersträßle , Steiler Bopser (or Am Bopserweg ) and Wernhaldeweg .

On the south-east flank of the Bopers, at the edge of the sports center (see below), a north-north-west tributary of the Ramsbach coming from Degerloch , a tributary of the Körsch flowing into the Neckar, rises ; the stream is bergkuppennah the Kuhwiesenquelle . The small Tiefenbach rises on its eastern flank and flows into the Neckar via the Bußbach and Dürrbach .

Near the surface, the bopser consists, among other things, of layers of Filder loam and lias and inside of gypsum keuper , marl and sandstone .

Transmitters

Stuttgart TV tower

About 650 m northeast of the highest point of the Bopers, the 216.61 m high Stuttgart TV tower has stood since 1955 at a height of 483  m , from which only radio programs are broadcast nowadays . From the viewing platform of the reinforced concrete tower, which is located at a height of 152.4  m , you can see from around 635  m above sea level. NHN a beautiful all-round view can be enjoyed.

Other transmission systems

About 50 m east of the Stuttgart TV tower there is a small reserve VHF transmission tower ( ) in steel framework construction , which is closed to the public .

There are numerous mobile phone antenna locations on and on the mountain, including several on Neue Weinsteige , one on Königstrasse and the Gazi Stadium .

On the south-southwest flank of the mountain, the Stuttgart-Degerloch transmitter existed until 1956 near the sports fields on the Bopseräckern in Hoffeld , the towers of which were dismantled after the Stuttgart television tower was completed. The name of the street near the radio towers still reminds of this transmitter system .

On the Frauenkopf ( 462.7  m above sea level ) located in the Filder, around 1.5 km northeast of the Bopser, in the district of the same name, the 192.4 m high Stuttgart telecommunications tower, which is closed to the public, has been made of reinforced concrete and is used, among other things, to broadcast radio - and television programs.

Water tower and elevated water tank

About 65 m east-northeast of the highest point of the Bopers, the Stuttgart-Degerloch water tower has stood on Jahnstrasse since 1912. It is 28 m high and has a container volume of 400 m³. A water tank has been located next to the tower since 2008 .

Sports facilities

Directly southeast of the highest point of the Bopers, the Waldau sports center extends above about 465  m height , including the Gazi Stadium (venue for the Stuttgarter Kickers ) and the Stuttgart Ice World . The Spitalwaldhalle Sillenbuch has been located around 1.2 km southeast of the sports center on the south-eastern flank of the mountain, directly west of the Sillenbuch district, at around 455  m above sea level .

Transport links

Both the main and secondary traffic routes on the Bopser have steep inclines and declines (gradients) , particularly on their often winding north ramps .

Street

On the northern and western edge of the Bopsers leads from downtown coming in the section between the municipalities middle , Degerloch and Möhringen the road 27 that the steep road on the north ramp including a part Neue Weinsteige and south to the district Fasanenhof located Junction Stuttgart-Degerloch of the federal highway 8 leads.

On the mountain the past branches from the B27 sports center Waldau and Stuttgart TV tower leading county road  9511 ( Jahnstraße ) off towards the east-northeast. This in turn joins Landesstraße  1200 ( Kirchheimer Straße ) a few meters east of the tower, which leads south-east to the municipality of Nellingen on the Fildern . In addition, the K 9511 meets the L 1016 (axis Jahnstraße - Mittlere Filderstraße ) near the tower , which runs from the city center in the north passing the tower in a south direction to the motorway junction at Stuttgart Airport . The 2.3 km long Heslacher Tunnel is located on the north-western flank of the mountain as part of the B 27 at Charlottenplatz intersecting federal road 14 between Marienplatz and Burgstallstrasse .

Via the Bopser, past the Stuttgart TV tower and the Waldau sports center , the lines U7, U8 and U15 of the Stuttgart Stadtbahn . They drive sections underground, that was completed in 1987 Tunnel Neue Weinsteige , in Upper Tunnel Weinsteige and opened in 1998 Waldau tunnel , and keep at stops Waldau (GAZI Stadium) ( Georgiweg ) Ruhbank (TV Tower) ( Kirchheimer street intersection Middle Filderstraße ; see also Ruhbank ) and Stelle ( Jahnstrasse ).

In addition, the Stuttgart cogwheel railway has been running on the north and west flanks of the mountain on its 2.2 km long route since 1884 , connecting the southern districts (final stop Marienplatz ) and Degerloch (final stop Degerloch ). On the north ramp it runs in sections along the Alte Weinsteige street and at its southern end stop there is a connection to the tram lines stopping on the Bopser, on whose routes the Filderbahn company used to run .

As part of the Stuttgart 21 project , the 9,468 m long Filder tunnel is to cross the Bopser.
