Ronow (noble family)
The Lords of Ronow , also of Ronburg (Czech z Ronova , also Ronovci ) were an old Bohemian noble family , from which - according to the common tree branch coat of arms ("Ostrew") - several famous Bohemian noble families emerged, including the Ronow and Biberstein from the house Krzinecky von Ronow, von Lichtenburg , Berka von Dubá , von Leipa and Mirzan von Klin (gen) stein (Czech z Klinštejna).
The first documented ancestor was Smil Světlický Herr auf Tuhan (around 1205), since 1211 Burgrave of Glatz . His sons were Heinrich (around 1252), Tschastolov (Častolov) (around 1253) and Smil.
The family later split into two branches with the same coat of arms.
Gender of Ronow
The branch held Ronow Castle near Zittau . The founders of this line of bailiffs from Zittau and Görlitz were Anselm (proven from 1381 to 1412) and Předbor (* 1385; † around 1406). In 1396 the rule in Saxony was bought by Zittau and the family only held lands in Bohemia.
- Anselm served Prince Johann in Görlitz and received for his services Ronow Castle near Zittau, after which he has named himself since 1385. From 1392 to 1396 he was Vogt in Görlitz and Zittau. In 1396 Zittau bought itself free and also acquired all customs rights. Anselm had sons Hanusch, who died early, Vilhelm, Materna and Christoph. Since the remaining three died without descendants, they bequeathed their property to Čeňěk von Klingstein and Nikolaus von Tschestitz in 1432.
- Předbor was 1397 Supreme Marshal and 1399 Burgrave of Glatz. He had sons Chaval († after 1410), Předbor, Wilhelm and Janek. The last three got transferred to Leipa. Apparently the Křinečtí von Ronow family descended from one of these brothers.
