Hugo Lüer

Hugo Eduard Georg August Lüer (born July 18, 1886 in Hanover , † December 24, 1954 in Hamburg ) was a German gymnast, gymnastics trainer, referee and gymnastics supervisor of the Nordmark . His home club was the Hamburg gymnastics club from 1816 .

Life

Lüer was registered in the Hamburg address book for the first time in 1918 under the address Besenbinderhof 23 , in 1919 for the first time with the profession of gymnastics teacher , and lived there until 1931. After that he lived at Norderstrasse 141 until his death .

He was a district gymnastics supervisor in Hamburg as early as the 1920s. Since 1924 he has been the gymnastics supervisor of the Nordmark. He was also a gym instructor of the Hamburger Gymnastics of 1816 and in accordance with address book entry no later than 1937 as a technical teacher , from 1942 then technical senior teacher at the Richard Wagner School in Eimsbüttel , the original junior high school High pasture that on 28 November 1932 in Gerhart-Hauptmann - School , in September 1933 the Hamburg Senate renamed it again after the composer Richard Wagner and in 1952 the Wilhelm-Gymnasium moved into its building .

Lüer acted several times as a referee, u. a. at international competitions and at the 1934 World Gymnastics Championships in Budapest . On April 28, 1935 he acted as a referee in Breslau in the international match between Germany and Hungary. The Hamburger Nachrichten certified him a performance to the greatest satisfaction. He was also a referee, in addition to u. a. Christian Strauch , involved in the selection of the German Olympic gymnasts in the Hanseatenhalle in Hamburg on July 4th and 5th, 1936. In addition, he was responsible for the implementation of the gauge equipment championships in the Nordmark.

On September 16, 1934, Lüer held the first exercise gymnastics for the Nordmark gymnasts in the hall of the HT from 1816 in preparation for the German gymnastics championships in Dortmund in 1934 , where the 100 best German gymnasts were to come together. It was also up to him to determine the four best North Marchers who should then take part in the championships.

As Gaumännerturnwart der Nordmark prepared the North German gymnasts for the Summer Olympics in Berlin in 1935 and 1936 . The first exercise for this took place on January 13, 1935 in Hamburg with the participation of about 30 gymnasts from Hamburg, Lübeck and the surrounding area. The following event as the second gymnastics took place on February 10th in Kiel .

On April 14, 1935, the Nordmark core Olympic team was finally determined.

In the autumn of 1935 it was up to Lüer to continue training the best gymnasts in the Northern Gaugruppe, i.e. from Lower Saxony, Nordmark, East Prussia and Pomerania, in preparation for the 1936 Olympic Games. This preparatory work was to be concluded with a gymnastics competition between the best gymnasts in the four districts in February 1936. In June 1936, he then prepared the north German gymnasts for the mass performances for the Olympic Games. With effect from September 30, 1936, Lüer resigned from the office of Gaumännerturnwarts.

When he died in 1954, he left behind the largest old men's gymnastics department in Germany, which he had headed himself to the end.
