history

The place name probably means "stream overgrown with pines".

Vorbach was first mentioned in a document in 1364 when "Gek de Fullebach", bailiff zu Rauheneck, received the village "Fuhrbach" as a fief . In 1468 Heintz Marschalk zu Raweneck "Vorbach" was awarded as an episcopal fief. 1469 was awarded to Heinz Marschalk von Raueneck in an inheritance division Vorbach. In the 14th and 15th centuries, the Marschalk von Rauheneck sat at the castle as Würzburg servants . In 1575 Vorbach belonged to the Bramberg office and the Würzburg monastery owned subjects in the village.

In 1821 Vorbach became a rural community and in 1862 it was incorporated into the newly created Bavarian district office of Ebern . The rural community consisted of two places, the church village and the deserted Pöppelsmühle an der Preppach, 1.0 kilometers away . In 1871 the parish had 126 inhabitants, 108 of whom were Catholic, and 27 residential buildings. Vorbach belonged to the Catholic and Protestant parish in Jesserndorf, 4.5 kilometers away . A Catholic denominational school stood in the place. In 1900 the community of 266.87 hectares had 122 inhabitants and 25 residential buildings and in 1925 120 people, 110 of whom were Catholic, lived in Vorbach in 24 residential buildings.

In 1950 the church village had 143 residents and 21 residential buildings. In 1961 Vorbach had 141 residents and 23 residential buildings. The village belonged to the Catholic parish Unterpreppach. In 1970 there were 118 and 1987 104 inhabitants and 24 residential buildings with 26 apartments.

On July 1, 1971, Vorbach was incorporated into Unterpreppach . On July 1, 1972, the incorporation to Ebern followed with Unterpreppach and the district of Ebern was dissolved as part of the regional reform . Vorbach came to the district of Haßberge .
