The Hundsücken area is a landscape protection area in the area of the towns of Balingen and Albstadt in the Zollernalbkreis that was designated by the Balingen District Office on March 17, 1970 .

location

The landscape protection area includes the entire district of Streichen as well as parts of the districts of Zillhausen and Pfeffingen . The area is divided into two parts by the nature reserves Irrenberg-Hundsücken and Roschbach . It belongs to the natural areas of the Hohe Schwabenalb and the southwestern Alb foreland . The districts built on in connection and the building areas shown in legally binding development plans (including hamlets and courtyard groups) do not belong to the protected area.

Landscape character

The area includes the wooded slopes of the Hundsücken and the plateau of the Irrenberg, which is characterized by grassland use . The field marking of Streichen, which is also located in the area, is characterized by the use of grassland and orchards.

history

The Hundsrück landscape area has been under landscape protection since 1959. The designation of the nature reserves Roschbach and Irrenberg-Hundsücken reduced the original LSG area by 187 hectares.

Contiguous protected areas

The landscape protection area encloses the nature reserves Irrenberg-Hundsücken and Roschbach , which also belong to the FFH area around Albstadt . The Albstadt-Bitz conservation area borders in the east . It partially overlaps with the bird sanctuary Südwestalb and Upper Danube Valley .
