action

Ryan Sanders is a sniper of the Canadian Forces . He is deployed in the Afghan province of Kandahar . One day he and his comrades are ambushed there. They can escape to a village where they meet a strange man who invites them to his house and brings them to safety from the attacking Taliban fighters . The description of the man piques intelligence officer Pete Mitchell's interest . He meets with the man and realizes that it is "the ghost", a legendary mujahedin fighter in the Soviet-Afghan war that had disappeared for many years.

Mitchell, with the help of his Afghan friend Haji, finds out that the ghost has reappeared because his son owes a militia leader who has kidnapped the ghost's two granddaughters as a result. Mitchell gives the ghost the money and offers it a safe house where it can meet the kidnapper. He hopes in this way to get the spirit on his side. In the meantime, the ghost has kidnapped the militia leader's son.

The meeting is overseen by Sanders and his men. The ghost pays the debts, but the militia leader still refuses to release the girls. The ghost then gives him the head of the kidnapped son. When the militia leader draws a pistol, he is shot by Sanders, whereupon the militia leader's companions flee the meeting point. When Sanders and his team want to withdraw, they hit the ghost and are suddenly attacked by the Taliban. Badly injured, the soldiers and the ghost manage to escape into the house. In order not to fall alive into the hands of the Taliban, Sanders radioed for artillery fire , in which the Taliban as well as the soldiers and the ghost died.

In the end, Haji manages to find the whereabouts of the kidnapped girls, who can be freed by Canadian soldiers.
