ICC Trophy 1994

The 1994 ICC Trophy was the qualifying tournament for the non-test nations for the 1996 Cricket World Cup . The tournament was played between February 12 and March 6, 1994 in Kenya . All games took place in the capital Nairobi . The winners were the United Arab Emirates , who won the final against hosts Kenya with two wickets. The Netherlands also qualified for the World Cup.

A total of 20 teams from the following countries took part in the tournament:

format

The 20 teams were divided into four preliminary round groups of five teams each. The first and second group qualified for the intermediate round. This was again in two groups, this time with four teams each. The first and second group qualified for the semi-finals, the winners the final and the losers the game for third place. The two finalists and the winner of the game for third place qualified for the world championship. The teams that were eliminated in the preliminary round played in a two-part group system from further placements.
