ICC Trophy 1986

The 1986 ICC Trophy was the qualifying tournament for the non-test nations for the 1987 Cricket World Cup . The tournament was played between June 11th and July 7th, 1986 in England. The winner was Zimbabwe, who beat the Netherlands in the final with 5 wickets and thus qualified for the World Cup.

A total of 16 associate members of the ICC took part in the tournament:

format

The 16 teams were divided into two groups, one with nine, one with seven teams. Their group first and second qualified for the semi-finals. Their winners qualified for the final, whose winners qualified for the world championship.
