East African national cricket team

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The East African national cricket team was a cricket team that participated in international competitions between 1958 and 1989. It represented the states of Kenya , Tanzania , Uganda and Zambia and was thus one of those "national teams" in which the players came from more than one state.

history

The team played their first game in 1958 against a non-European representation of South Africa . In 1966 she joined the ICC as an Associate Member and was invited to the 1975 Cricket World Cup . She completed his only three One Day Internationals in the preliminary round , but they lost all of them, and so dropped out as the bottom of the preliminary round group. In 1979, the team failed in the preliminary round of the ICC Trophy and thus missed qualification for the 1979 Cricket World Cup . In 1981 the strongest part of the team from Kenya withdrew from the team and from then on took part in international competitions as an independent team. The remaining team also failed in the preliminary round of the ICC Trophy in 1982 and 1986 and thus also missed the subsequent World Cups . In 1989 the team was expanded to include Malawi and the team became the East and Central African national cricket team .
