IC 5048 is a spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBbc in the constellation Peacock in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 597 million light years from the Milky Way and about 110,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies IC 5044 , IC 5045 , IC 5051 , IC 5060 .
The object was discovered by DeLisle Stewart on September 26, 1900 .
