IC 5050 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sb in the constellation Aquarius on the ecliptic . It is an estimated 373 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 145,000 light years in diameter.

The Type Ia supernova SN 2012ee was discovered here.

The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on October 13, 1898 .
