Ignaz Feigerle (born April 7, 1795 in Biskupstwo , Moravia , † September 27, 1863 in Ochsenburg ) was a Catholic theologian and bishop of the diocese of St. Pölten .

Life

Feigerle studied at the Frintaneum in Vienna and was a court chaplain of the court and castle parishes . In 1825 he became a professor of pastoral theology at the University of Olomouc . In 1829 he went to the University of Vienna , in 1846 he became rector there .

In 1851 Feigerle became Bishop of St. Pölten. In 1858 he founded the Hippolytus , a scientific diocesan journal, which was published by Matthäus Binder and Anton Kerschbaumer . In 1856 he founded the episcopal boys' seminary "Marianum" in Krems an der Donau , which in 1871 moved to Seitenstetten .

There is a stained glass window from the 19th century in Linz's Mariä-Konstanz-Dom , which shows the laying of the foundation stone on May 1st, 1862 and on which the present bishops Franz Joseph Rudigier , Ignaz Feigerle and Athanasius Zuber are depicted.
