Michael Johann Wagner

Michael Johann Wagner (born August 12, 1788 in Linz ; † October 23, 1842 ) was an Austrian Roman Catholic clergyman, apostolic field vicar and bishop of St. Pölten .

Life

He was ordained deacons on August 25, 1811 and priestly on September 1, 1811 and was incardinated in the clergy of the Linz diocese . As a result, Wagner belonged to the imperial court and castle parish .

On April 27, 1833 he was appointed Vicar Apostolic of the Imperial and Royal Army and elected Bishop of Belgrade and Semendria on May 2, 1833 , the papal confirmation took place on July 29, 1833. The episcopal ordination donated him on September 8, 1833 Antal Juranitz , the bishop of Győr ; Co- consecrators were János Horváth , Bishop of Székesfehérvár (Albareale), and Imrich Palugyay de Eaden et Bodafalva , Bishop of Košice .

On November 16, 1835 Wagner was elected Bishop of St. Pölten, this election was confirmed by the Pope on February 1, 1836. On February 20, 1836, Joseph Pletz was appointed as the successor to Wagner's court and castle pastor . Wagner exercised the office of bishop of St. Pölten until his death.
