Anton Leichtfried (born May 30, 1967 in Scheibbs , Austria ) is provost and auxiliary bishop in St. Pölten .

Life

Leichtfried entered the St. Pölten seminary in 1985 after graduating from the Stiftsgymnasium Seitenstetten . Between 1987 and 1992 he studied as a seminarist at the Collegium Germanicum et Hungaricum at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome , where he obtained a license in dogmatic theology . On October 10, 1991, he received the sacrament of ordination in the Church of Sant'Ignazio .

From 1992 to 1993 he was chaplain in Oberwölbling and then until 1996 chaplain in Waidhofen an der Thaya .

Between 1996 and 2000 he completed his doctoral studies with Gisbert Greshake at the University of Freiburg , which he completed with a dissertation on Trinity theology as theology of history . Since 2000 he has been spiritual at the Austrian Propaedeuticum (preparatory year for candidates for priesthood) in Horn .

Since March 4, 2005 he has been the reign of the seminary.

On November 21, 2006 he was welcomed by Pope Benedict XVI. appointed titular bishop of Rufiniana and auxiliary bishop in the diocese of St. Pölten. He received his episcopal ordination on February 25, 2007 by Bishop Klaus Küng ; Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Vienna , Cardinal Christoph Schönborn , and the Bishop of Linz , Ludwig Schwarz SDB . His motto is: Da cor docile! , in German "Give a hearing heart!" ( 1 Kings 3,9  EU ). He also fulfills the previous task as rain as auxiliary bishop. Anton Leichtfried has been responsible for the liturgy area of the Austrian Bishops' Conference since November 2018.
