Your last will can me! is a tragicomedy of director Sinan Akkuş from the year 2019 . The main roles are played by Uwe Ochsenknecht as journalist Tom Gruber and Heiner Lauterbach as public prosecutor Heinrich Gruber.

action

The public prosecutor Heinrich Gruber and the travel journalist Tom Gruber get to know each other when they open a will. They learn that they were both married to Sophia, who was killed in a car accident.

The two very dissimilar men quarrel over the form of burial. Sophia's written last will is a burial at sea in front of the (fictional) small island of Neuhever by her two husbands, but Heinrich Gruber refuses, since in his eyes this is against the law. He breaks into the undertaker and steals Sophia's ashes, but is surprised by Tom. Together they drive to Neuhever. On the way, they pick up the Finnish hitchhiker Ella, who also wants to go to Neuhever to visit her recently abandoned lover Ole, from whom she is expecting a child. After a few tangles, these two find themselves happily together.

From farewell letters from Sophia to her two husbands it emerges that they have to share what they know about their wife in order to get a complete picture of her. However, this is not possible as long as the men are still fighting over the funeral. When Heinrich finally enforces his plan to have a burial in the cemetery, there are fights in which the ashes are thrown into the air.

Now the two men finally find each other. Sophia is from the island and had to leave when she was 17 to start a new life. Her two husbands met different needs for her and, after a bad start, made a wonderful life possible for her. She could never go back to the island while she was alive, but in death she wished to do so.

At the end, Tom pulls out a glass bottle with ashes from Sophia, which he had stored for himself, and the two of them fulfill Sophia's last wish for a burial at sea in front of Neuhever - since there was no boat to be found, with an inflatable swan.

reception

criticism

  • The TV guide commented: “It was nice, now it's over: Tom (Uwe Ochsenknecht, right) and Heinrich (Heiner Lauterbach) find out from the undertaker that they had been married to the same woman for years. Now the deceased wants to be buried by both of them together. But how? - Inside joke: the rivals from "Men" (1985) are also competing for Ulrike Kriener (voiceover). "
  • The program magazine TV Spielfilm rated: “[...] The story is smart, the production by Sinan Accu (“ 3 Turks and a Baby ”) is imaginative, and varies between funny and soft tones. A "Friday film" of the better kind. "
