Career

Ilya Krikunow began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of Elemasch Elektrostal , for whose professional team he was active from 2001 to 2003 in the Wysschaja Liga , the second Russian division. During this period he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2002 in the seventh round as a total of 223rd player by the Vancouver Canucks , for which he never played. Instead, he played from 2003 to 2005 for Chimik Voskressensk and after his resettlement until 2008 for Chimik Moskowskaja Oblast in the super league .

Chimik Moskovskaya Oblast was included in the newly founded Continental Hockey League for the 2008/09 season and changed its name to Atlant Mytishchi on the occasion. For the club, however, Krikunow then only played five KHL games, in which he gave an assist, and then moved within the KHL to Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod . He completed over 200 KHL games for Torpedo in the following 4 seasons before returning to Atlant in January 2013 in exchange for Jonas Andersson . In May 2013 he signed a contract with Awtomobilist Yekaterinburg , which is valid until the end of the 2014/15 season. At the beginning of the 2013/14 season he was used by Awtomobilist at Sputnik Nizhny Tagil , but also completed a few KHL games for Awtomobilist. In January 2014 he moved within the KHL to Amur Khabarovsk and in May 2014 to HK Sochi . There he played until 2017, then was again under contract with Awtomobilist for two years and returned to HK Sochi in May 2019. There he was appointed team captain.
