action

The student Marianne Seibold and her fellow student Bob are looking for a well-paid job during the summer holidays so that they can afford a long-awaited trip with their wages. While Bob soon finds what she is looking for and takes a job as a babysitter, Marianne is less fortunate. She gets help from her friend Inge. She issues a letter of recommendation for her uncle Heinrich Horstmann, who owns a flourishing large car showroom in the heart of the city and is currently looking for a new saleswoman. When Marianne arrives at Horstmann's company, the boss is out and his not particularly friendly secretary feeds her off with a night job as a car cleaner in the underground car park.

The next day Horstmann reads his niece's letter. Without hesitation, he asks Marianne to come to his office. However, because she no longer has time to go to the hairdresser, she quickly puts on her black wig and calls in to Horstmann. He is so delighted with the girl's beauty that he hires her on the spot. So Marianne suddenly got a new job. But because she also wants to keep her work in the underground car park, she begins to play a double role from now on: at night in the garage as blonde Anne, who is always in a good mood and uses every opportunity to sing and dance; during the day she is Mary, the serious black-haired receptionist in the car salon. Problems arise when Marianne suddenly has two suitors and she is unsure which of them she is more drawn to than Mary to her boss Heinrich Horstmann or as Anne to his nephew, the patent attorney Dr. Klaus Stettner. When finally a third lady appears, who has a mop of red hair but otherwise looks like a sister of Anne and Mary, the confusion reaches its climax. Events precipitate until in the end all threads work themselves out.
