Intercontinental Poker Championship
The Intercontinental Poker Championship , or IPC for short , was a poker tournament in which 21 professional poker players from as many nations competed against each other. It was played in 2006 and 2007 at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas . The broadcasting rights in Germany were with Sport1 .
Game mode
The variant No Limit Texas Hold'em was played . The 21 players were divided into three groups of seven players each. The winner of each group game advanced to the semi-finals. The six remaining players in each group competed against each other again, but again only the winner rose.
In the semifinals, six players competed against each other, with only the best advancing into heads-up . The remaining players played repeatedly for a seat at the final table.
The first tournament was won by Yosh Nakano from Japan, ahead of Tony G from Lithuania. Nakano won US $ 350,000 , while second place was awarded US $ 150,000.

2007
For 2007 the IPC was scheduled between February 16 and 18. The good image of the cup had now attracted even more participants, from which 24 were selected. The prize rose to $ 750,000 for the winner and $ 250,000 for the runner-up. Six groups of four players each were formed. The winners reached the semifinals, the second competed against each other for seventh place in the semifinals in an extra match. From the semi-finals the winner rose in match 1, the winner in match 2 and also the winner of the third game. However, there was only one final with three players.
