The 2008/09 season was the 18th regular season of the International Hockey League ( Colonial Hockey League until 1997 , United Hockey League until 2007 ). The six teams completed 76 matches each in the regular season . The team with the highest points in the regular season were the Fort Wayne Komets , who won the Turner Cup in the play-offs .
