Irma St. Paule

Irma St. Paule (born March 23, 1926 in Odessa , Ukrainian SSR , USSR , † January 9, 2007 in New York City ) was an American film actress .

life and career

St. Paule was born in Ukraine as the daughter of a Turk and a Russian. She later moved to New York with her family. After she got married, she followed her husband to Chicago, where she fulfilled a childhood dream and trained to be an actor. After their marriage divorced, she moved back to New York.

In 1985 she made her film debut in the horror film The Oracle . Supporting roles followed alongside stars like Sandra Bullock , Paul Newman and Bruce Willis . Due to her old age at the start of her career, she was mostly committed to the role of grandmother, and shortly before her death in 2007 she was still working on two feature films.

St. Paule also starred in television roles, including Springfield Story from 1992 to 1994 , and guest roles in Sex and the City , Law & Order, and The Sopranos .

She was also active as a stage actress, in addition to roles in various smaller theaters, she appeared in both off-Broadway performances and on Broadway itself ( The Tattooed Rose , Tennessee Williams , 2005).
