Isabelle Krieg (born November 15, 1971 in Freiburg ) is a Swiss artist . Her work includes works of the fine arts such as sculpture , object art and installation as well as painting , photography , art in construction and performance .

Life and professional development

Isabelle Krieg completed the Matura Type B in Freiburg in 1991. After a summer as an alpine girl and a tour with the children's circus Pipistrello, she attended the Scuola Dimitri in Verscio and the Lucerne School of Design & Art .

In her early works, she created paintings of various formats and materials, as well as large-scale installations that consisted of embroidery, buildings in wood and polyurethane foam , light sources and Super 8 projections. In her work Weltraum / Discovering the world in an empty house in Berlin , the geographical representation of the world could be found in new, unexpected places and in different materializations.

The use of indoor and outdoor spaces became a core theme of her work, for example with foam shows  in the foam-overflowing tower studio of the Istituto Svizzero in Rome, there as a living fountain figure; with breast clouds made of silicone in the work Milchstrasse  in the garden of the Museum of Art and History in Freiburg, with a brook that splashes over all of the artist's belongings, in the work Curriculum I and II  in the Musée Jurassien des Arts in Moutier and in Kunstmuseum Bern, with a fireplace made of disco balls and evening meals in the public space in Bern and Chur or with charred trees in the Center PasquArt in Biel for the exhibition War Makes Love .

At the same time, she won competitions for art in architecture: She created a stylized Zen garden in the inner courtyard of the intercantonal high school of the Broye in Payerne, or a forest awning made of tree tops on the ceiling of the connecting building between the operating wing and the ward for the Obwalden cantonal hospital in Sarnen (collaboration with the architect Ralph Alan Mueller).

In more recent work, Isabelle Krieg created a mobile with Weisser Katzenreigen from all the bones of a cat's skeleton and set up a Salon d'O in a former stone goat barn in Bergell at over 2,300 meters above sea level , which consisted of 22,200 colored felt balls . New works and an overview of her work over the past 25 years were shown in the spring of 2019 in the “ALL TAG” exhibition at the Solothurn Art Museum .
