The Icelandic Women's Football Championship 1979 ( Icelandic 1. deild kvenna ) was the eighth edition of the Icelandic top division in women's football . It started on June 1, 1979 and ended on July 31, 1979. Five teams met in a double round tournament . Breiðablik Kópavogur won the Icelandic championship for the second time before defending champion Valur Reykjavík and record champion FH Hafnarfjörður .
