Ivan Prokić ( Serbian - Cyrillic Иван Прокић ; born April 6, 1975 in Belgrade , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a former Serbian ice hockey player who played a large part of his career at the KHK Red Star Belgrade .

Career

Ivan Prokić began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of HK Partizan Belgrade , for whom he played in the Serbian ice hockey league at the age of 14 . After he then played at KHK Red Star Belgrade , with whom he became Yugoslavian champion in 1992 , he spent the 1994/95 season at HK CSKA Moscow in the International Hockey League , in which he only played seven games. From 1997 to 2001 he played for the Wisconsin Badgers , the team from the University of Wisconsin – Madison . 2001/02 he then played with the Rockford IceHogs in the United Hockey League . He then went back to Yugoslavia for a year and again won the national championship title in 2003 with HK Vojvodina Novi Sad . In 2003/04 he was again active in the USA and played for various ECHL teams . He then returned to his hometown and played again for the next few years for the Red Star, with which he won the Serbian-Montenegrin title in 2005 . Most recently he played for HK Vitez Belgrade in the Serbian ice hockey league in 2012/13 . Then he ended his career.

International

For Yugoslavia, Prokić took part in the U18-B-European Championship in 1992 , in which he was voted the best striker of the tournament as the top scorer, but could not prevent the last place of his team, as well as the U20-C2 World Championship in 1995 .

In the men's area, Prokić made his international debut at the 1995 World Cup for Yugoslavia , but could not prevent his team from relegating as the tournament's top scorer. He then played in the D-World Championship in 1996 and the C-World Championship in 1998 and, after switching to the current division system in 2002, also for Yugoslavia. After the collapse of the Balkan state, he was on the ice in 2003 when he was the best assist and top scorer of the tournament, in 2004 , 2005 when he was again the best goal setter, and in 2006 for Serbia and Montenegro also in Division II. Most recently he played for the Serbian selection at the 2011 World Cup, also in Division II.
