Jörg Schauhoff (born May 10, 1943 in Hemer ) is a former German ice hockey player who played for EC Deilinghofen from 1959 to 1977 . He is a founding member of the ECD and was one of the first players in Sauerland ice hockey. From 1959 to 1961 Schauhoff played with EC Deilinghofen in youth games and was then part of the senior team for the first 16 years.

Due to his achievements and services to ice hockey in Hemer and Iserlohn , an award was given by the Iserlohn Roosters on September 12, 2014 . Here, Schauhoff's number 5 and number 21 of the long-time ECD player Heinz-Dieter Brüggemann were blocked and jersey banners were pulled under the roof of the Iserlohn ice rink in their honor . This ceremony was the first in the history of the EC Deilinghofen and the Iserlohn Roosters.

Life

Born in Hemeran, he grew up in the Deilinghofen district and continues to live there. He is married and has children. After his ice hockey career, he worked in the real estate business and became managing director of his own company. He was also involved in local politics in Hemeran for ten years.

Career

Schauhoff witnessed the stationing of Canadian soldiers in Hemer in 1953. Together with other young people, he came into contact with ice hockey through the local Canadians. After the youngsters initially imitated ice hockey on the street, they were given the opportunity to use the ice surface in the Canadian barracks Fort Prince of Wales for the first time in 1957 . In 1959 the EC Deilinghofen was founded.

Schauhoff scored 346 goals in 416 games, making him the ECD's record scorer. In 1965 he rose with his team from the third class group league to the top division. In his last season, Schauhoff made promotion to the Bundesliga with the ECD and then ended his playing career. As a long-time captain and outstanding player in his team, he was the figurehead of EC Deilinghofen in the first two decades of its existence. Schauhoff was the top scorer in the ECD five times and scored 33 hat tricks. After his career as a player, Schauhoff was active at the ECD as a junior coach, sporting director and member of the advisory board. He was involved in building up the traditional team and building the ECD memorial.

International

Following the 1960/61 season, Schauhoff, together with four other players from EC Deilinghofen, completed two international matches for the German national youth team. The team of the German Ice Sports Association met Switzerland's selection in Fleurier and Adelboden .
