Jack McBannon (born Thorsten Willer in Haan on December 4, 1981 ), formerly known as " Willer ", is a German singer and songwriter . McBannon lives in Wuppertal .

Life

Jack McBannon began taking guitar lessons at the age of six. His first band Addicted? he founded during his school days and recorded four demos with her, which the band played at several concerts in Germany.

Jack McBannon recorded his first solo album on his own in 2008 in Wuppertal and Düsseldorf. With this album he toured as "Willer" through the USA, Canada and all of Germany, including concerts with Ray Wilson , Fools Garden and Wingenfelder . The second album World Crashing Down was recorded partly in Wülfrath and partly in Los Angeles. He toured all of Germany with the CD, which was also released by himself.

McBannon's album Wovon sein shall speak , which was released in 2014 on the Motor Music label , changed the language of his lyrics from English to German. Since that album he has had a permanent backing band that can also be heard on the album. The album tour of the same name led through all of Germany, Switzerland and Austria and included concerts in the opening program by artists such as Richie Sambora , Laith Al-Deen , Revolverheld , Johannes Oerding , Pohlmann , Wirtz , Stefanie Heinzmann , Jennifer Rostock , Luxuslärm , Tom Beck , Tobias Regner and Flip Grater .

About the songs What should songs talk about , Die Schwebe , Hallo how are you and Weit weg music videos have been released. In the music press, Jack McBannon and the album What should songs talk about received positive reviews and presented. In addition to an article in the magazine Akustik Guitar , the song Tailwind was published on the magazine CD.

Since the beginning of 2015, Jack McBannon has started work on a follow-up album, which, like its predecessor, was released on March 24, 2017 under the title "Zeitlos" via the Motor Music label . Music videos have been released for the songs Trockener Sand , Unconditional , The Soundtrack of Your Time and Just Once . The video for Just Once consists mainly of protagonists holding a sign with the song title in the camera, including Konstantin Wecker , Laith Al-Deen , Max Mutzke and Alex Diehl .

The tour for the album Zeitlos leads through all of Germany and parts of Switzerland. McBannon played on her u. a. with Henning Wehland , Jan Josef Liefers and his band Radio Doria, Max Mutzke and Wolf Maahn .

On September 1st 2017 Jack McBannon released the EP Solo Acoustic in collaboration with Motor Music . It contains solo versions of selected songs from his two German-language albums as well as one of his English songs and a cover version of the Leonard Cohen song Hallelujah .

In August 2018, McBannon performed together with the Goo Goo Dolls in Hamburg and Berlin.

In April 2019 Jack McBannon was invited by the Goethe-Institut to play a tour through Russia. He performed in Chelyabinsk, Satka, Perm and Yekaterinburg.

In the summer of 2020 Thorsten Willer took on the artist name Jack McBannon and simultaneously released the first two music videos for his new album with "Right Here" and "The Snowflake".

Other musical projects

From 2010 to 2014 Thorsten Willer was the singer of the grunge alternative band Soledown from Cologne . With them he released the EP MMX and the album Mudbox , which was released in August 2014 on the Sonic Revolution label.
