James "Jamie" MacDonald (born April 17, 1986 in Broxburn ) is a Scottish football goalkeeper who plays for the Raith Rovers .
Career
society
Jamie MacDonald joined Heart of Midlothian in 2003 after previously playing for Musselburgh Athletic. Before making his Hearts debut, the goalkeeper was loaned to the Scottish second division club Queen of the South from January 2007 to May 2008 . He made his debut on January 27th against Partick Thistle . For the club he completed a total of 14 league games in the second half of the 2006/07 season . In the 2007/08 season he came as a regular goalkeeper to 34 league games. With the second division he also reached the final in the Scottish Cup . In the final at Hampden Park, the outsider lost 3-2 to the favored Glasgow Rangers . Queen of the South qualified for the European Cup for the first time in the club's history by reaching the Scottish Cup final.
MacDonald returned to Edinburgh for the 2008-09 season . After playing in preparation under the new Hearts coach Csaba László , he stayed behind Steve Banks' second goalkeeper as the season progressed. He made his debut in the goal of Hearts against the Glasgow Rangers on Matchday 2 of the 2008/09 season at Ibrox Park . In the first season he completed seven league games. In the following two seasons he was a substitute behind Marián Kello . From the 2011/12 season he was able to take the position of goalkeeper from the Slovaks. In August 2011 MacDonald played for the first time in the European Cup against Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane . With the Hearts he won the Scottish Cup in the final against Hibernian in the Edinburgh Derby that same season . In the 2012/13 and 2013/14 seasons he remained the main force between the posts in the capital. In 2013 he lost with his club in the final of the league cup against FC St. Mirren .
In July 2014 MacDonald moved to FC Falkirk from the second division in Scotland, before joining first division club FC Kilmarnock a year later .
National team
Jamie MacDonald played for the Scottish U-21 national team in 2007 and 2008 . He made his debut against the Czech Republic on August 21, 2007 in Falkirk . In ten international matches in this age group, he remained clean five times.
In November 2018 MacDonald was appointed by national coach Alex McLeish for the first time in the squad of the Scottish senior team for the international match in the Nations League against Albania . MacDonald was the substitute goalkeeper behind Allan McGregor in the Scottish 4-0 away win .
