Jan Petersen (politician)
Jan Petersen (born June 11, 1946 in Oslo ) is a Norwegian conservative politician, lawyer and diplomat.
Petersen passed his state law exam in 1973. From 1975 to 1981 he was mayor of Oppegård municipality . From 1981 he was a member of the Norwegian parliament as a member of the Akershus constituency , from which he resigned in 2009. He served as chairman of the conservative Høyre party from 1994 to 2004. From 2001 and 2005 he was a foreign minister in the second government of Kjell Magne Bondevik . From 2009 to 2014, Petersen was the Norwegian ambassador in Vienna before his retirement.
