Janusz Marek Wójcik (born November 18, 1953 in Warsaw ; † November 20, 2017 ) was a Polish football player , coach and politician .
Player career
As a player he was with several Warsaw clubs, from 1967 to 1970 at Agrykola Warszawa , then from 1970 to 1974 at Gwardia Warszawa , where he played a league game. He then played in 1974 with Ursus Warszawa and from 1974 to 1976 with Hutnik Warszawa .
Coaching career
After his playing career, the graduate of the Warsaw Sports University then began to work as a coach.
At the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona , he coached the Polish team that made it to the final. The Poles lost the final in Camp Nou just 3-2 to Spain, who became Olympic champions in football for the first time. The star of this team was the young center forward Andrzej Juskowiak , who became the tournament's top scorer and shot the team into the final. Winning the silver medal was the greatest success since the Polish Olympic victory in 1972 in Munich . He then coached Legia Warsaw , Śląsk Wrocław and coach of the Polish national football team .
Political activity
From 2005 to 2007 Wójcik was a member of the Sejm as a member of the Samoobrona .
