Jason Lepine (born March 26, 1985 in Cornwall , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has played for the Toledo Walleye in the ECHL since 2013 .

Career

Jason Lepine began his career in 2003 with the Cornwall Colts in the Central Junior Hockey League. There he played until 2006 and scored 144 points in 160 games as a defender. For the 2006/07 season Lepine left his hometown Cornwall and signed his first professional contract with the Corpus Christi Rayz in the Central Hockey League . Also in the next year he was initially under contract there, but moved shortly after the start of the season to the Knoxville Ice Bears in the Southern Professional Hockey League . They finished the regular season as the team with the best points and reached the final of the playoffs . There Lepine and his team were able to prevail and win the President's Cup .

For the 2008/09 season he moved to the Bloomington Prairie Thunders in the International Hockey League . However, Lepine could only complete 21 games. He also made his debut in the American Hockey League and played a game for the Rockford IceHogs . The next year he stayed injury-free and scored 44 scorer points in 74 games, making him the defender with the highest points on his team. For the playoffs, however, the Bloomington PrairieThunder could not qualify. Towards the end of the season, Lepine played with tryout contracts for the Peoria Rivermen and Albany River Rats in the AHL. But he received no AHL offers for the next year, so he signed for the 2010/11 season with the Bakersfield Condors from the ECHL . This transferred Lepine on December 10, 2010 to league competitor Toledo Walleye . There he performed well and was the best defender of his team. After the season he was elected to the ECHL Second All-Star Team. In addition, Lepine played again with tryout contracts with two teams in the AHL.

For the 2011/12 season Lepine moved to Europe and signed with HC Kladno from the Czech extra league . With his team he reached ninth place after the regular season and was eliminated after three defeats in the playoff qualification. He then joined JYP Jyväskylä from the Finnish SM-liiga . There he performed well at the beginning of the season and was his team's top scorer at the European Trophy 2012 . He then fell out after a few games in the SM-liiga due to an ankle injury. Since his team with Rich Peverley and Lars Eller has now signed two more foreign players, Lepine was only used in the farm team JYP-Akatemia in the second-rate Mestis on his return . On January 14, 2013, he moved to the Iserlohn Roosters in the German Ice Hockey League . With the Roosters, he missed qualifying for the playoffs and received no new contract offer. In September 2013 he trained for twelve days with the Hartford Wolf Pack from the AHL. They did not sign him and Lepine signed with the Toledo Walleye from the ECHL in October 2013.
