Jean-Claude Gautrand

Jean-Claude Gautrand (born December 19, 1932 in Sains-en-Gohelle , Pas-de-Calais , France ; † September 24, 2019 ) was a French photographer , journalist and author .

Life

Gautrand was already interested in photography as a teenager and took his first pictures. He became acquainted with the works of Otto Steinert and joined the club of 30 × 40 , of which he later became vice president. In 1968 the first volume of his photographs was published. In 1972 he was responsible for the photographic part of the Festival international d'art contemporain de Royan in Royan , Charente-Maritime department . In 1974 he organized the Rencontres Internationales de la Photographie d'Arles in Arles , from 1978 he was on the board of directors of the annual event. In the same year he became a member of the artistic advisory board and board of directors of the Fondation Nationale de la Photographie in Lyon , Département Rhône .

From 1984 to 2006 Gautrand was Secretary General of the Prix ​​Nadar Photo Book Prize . In 2004 he became a founding member of the Association du Jeu de Paume in Paris .
