Jean Baptiste Janssens
Jean Baptiste Janssens (born December 22, 1889 in Mechelen , † October 5, 1964 in Rome ) was a Belgian Jesuit and 27th Superior General of the Societas Jesu .
Jean Baptiste Janssens entered the Jesuit order in 1907. In 1919 he was ordained a priest in Leuven. He taught canon law at the University of Leuven . In 1939 he became Provincial of the Belgian Jesuit Province .
After the 26th General Wladimir Ledóchowski had died on December 13, 1942 , the General Assembly elected Jean Baptiste Janssens as 27th General in September 1946.
