Thyrsus González
Thyrsus González , occasionally Tirso González de Santalla , (born January 18, 1624 in Arganza , Spain , † October 27, 1705 in Rome ) was the 13th general of the Societas Jesu .
Life
On March 3, 1643 González joined the Societas Jesu at the age of 29. After his studies and training in the order, he worked from 1655 to 1665 as a lecturer in philosophy and theology at the University of Salamanca .
He then spent more than 15 years as a preacher on behalf of his order between Spain and Italy . In 1676 González returned as a lecturer at the University of Salamanca. He held this office until 1687.
When the 12th General Charles de Noyelle died on December 12, 1686 , the General Assembly elected González on July 6, 1687 as the 13th General of the Order.
Thyrsus González died on October 27, 1705 at the age of 81 and was succeeded by Michelangelo Tamburini .
