Michelangelo Tamburini
Michelangelo Tamburini (born September 27, 1648 in Modena , † February 28, 1730 in Rome ) was the 14th general of the Societas Jesu .
Life
On January 16, 1665, Tamburini joined the Societas Jesu. After studying philosophy and theology, he taught these subjects for twelve years. He taught philosophy at the college in Bologna and theology in Mantua . He was then called to be the confessor of Cardinal Rinaldo d'Este . He held this office until 1696.
From 1697 to 1699 Tamburini served as Provincial of the Order of Venice . Then the 13th General of the Order, Thyrsus González , appointed him Secretary of the Order. As such, Tamburini was promoted to vicar general in 1703 .
When González could no longer pursue his official business in the last years of his life, seriously ill, at the request of Pope Tamburini took over the management of the order. When González died on October 27, 1705, the General Assembly of the Order on January 3, 1706 elected Tamburini 14th General of the Order.
Michelangelo Tamburini died in Rome on February 28, 1730 at the age of 81.
