Tadeusz Brzozowski
Tadeusz Brzozowski (born October 21, 1749 in Koenigsberg , † February 5, 1820 in Polazk ) was the 19th general of the Societas Jesu .
Life
When the superior general of the Jesuits in Russia, Gabriel Gruber , died on March 26, 1805 , the general assembly elected Brzozowski as their general on September 2, 1805.
Brzozowski was not allowed to leave the tsarist empire and take up his office in Rome until his death , although the Society of Jesus had been re-admitted by Pope Pius VII by virtue of the bull Sollicitudo omnium ecclesiarum of August 7, 1814. From 1815 to 1820 he lived in Polatsk .
Tadeusz Brzozowski died on February 5, 1820. On that day the Tsar banished all Jesuits from Russia . Aloisius Fortis succeeded Brzozowski in office.
