Jens Lindblom
Jens Lindblom (born May 15, 1935 - † July 28, 2004 ) was a Swedish bandy and soccer player who worked as a coach after his active time in both sports.
Career
Lindblom competed in bandy and football in the 1950s and 1960s for Hammarby IF each in the top division. His main focus was on Bandy, in football he was only irregular in the team's squad and only played a few competitive games. He was also briefly active for IFK Stockholm . He represented the Swedish national bandy team at the 1961 and 1963 World Championships .
At the end of the 1960s he was a coach in Ljusdal in both sports . While he was in charge of the bandy club Ljusdals BK on the one hand , he coached the third division soccer club Ljusdals IF on the other . Under his leadership, the club rose to the second division. Well known for this success, he switched to AIK in the Allsvenskan at the beginning of 1971 . In the first year still seventh in the table, he achieved the best season since winning the championship in 1937 in the 1972 season, when the team around Dag Szepanski , Yngve Leback , Rolf Zetterlund and Torbjörn Ek , whom he had brought from his previous coaching station at Ljusdals IF, behind Åtvidabergs FF Became runner-up. After a fifth place in the table in the following season, the club repeated the runner-up in the 1974 season, but the Malmö FF team coached by Bob Houghton dominated the championship clearly and had a nine point lead at the end of the season. Despite the success, the club replaced him with the Englishman Keith Spurgeon .
Lindblom signed on with the first division relegated Brynäs IF , with whom he missed promotion to the Allsvenskan as runner-up behind IFK Sundsvall . After the end of the season he moved to the first division club IF Elfsborg , which he left after a season in the direction of IFK Västerås . With the third division team he rose to the second division in 1977, where he managed to stay on the last non-relegation place.
In early 1979, Lindblom returned to AIK, which was now in the second half of the table. Even under his leadership, the success failed and after a player revolt in early September, the club dismissed him as the first coach in the club's history during a season. His assistant Bo Pettersson replaced him, but could no longer prevent relegation. Until 1981 he coached the IF Brommapojkarna soccer team .
In addition to his work as a soccer coach, Lindblom also worked as a bandy trainer for various clubs.
In 1974 Lindblom contributed to the record "Fotbollsskola med Ralf & Ronnie" together with Ralf Edström and Ronnie Hellström .
