Johann Heinrich Ludwig Maresch (born March 4, 1801 in Küstrin , † December 19, 1864 in Berlin ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

Origin and family

Johann Heinrich Ludwig was a son of the court preacher in Küstrin, Wenzeslaus Maresch (1766-1820) and Marie Luise Arend.

His youngest sister was married to Adolph Friedrich Kleinert (1802–1834), which made him his brother-in-law. He himself married in 1834 in Königsberg i. Pr. With Dorothea Eleonore Charlotte Dittmar (1812–1874). The marriage resulted in two daughters and a son, with the boy and the youngest daughter already dying as children.

Career

In 1818, Maresch joined the Prussian Army's first guards pioneer company as a pioneer . In 1819 he was appointed Portepeefähnrich and until 1822 commanded the artillery and engineering school . As early as 1821 he was an aggregated second lieutenant of the 1st engineer inspection and was assigned to the same place in the same year. In 1822 he moved to the 1st pioneer department. Maresch performed fortification service in Stralsund from 1824 and in Thorn from 1828 , finally becoming adjutant of the East and West Prussian fortress inspection in 1831 . In 1833 he was promoted to Prime Lieutenant and in 1841 was ad interim commander of the 2nd Company of the 1st Engineer Division. his promotion to captain took place in 1841. He was then commanded as 2nd assistant to the 2nd engineering department at the War Ministry in 1842 and changed to the 2nd engineer inspection in 1846, leaving his position. In 1849 Maresch was a member of the examination commission for captains II class and prime lieutenants of the engineering corps. He rose to major in the War Department in 1850 . In 1852 he was an engineer officer from the square in Stettin . He was promoted to lieutenant colonel in 1856 and became inspector of the 2nd fortress inspection in 1857. In 1859 he received both his promotion to colonel and the Order of the Red Eagle III. Class received with a bow. Maresch was 1861 with the Crown Order III. Honored class and has his 1862 farewell to the character as a major general and pension received. He was buried in the Berlin Invalidenfriedhof .
