Johann Wolfgang Rößner
Johann Wolfgang Rößner , nickname Hans Rößner, (born January 19, 1841 in Gostenhof near Nuremberg , † May 9, 1911 in Nuremberg) was a German sculptor .
Life
Rößner was born the son of a tailor. He received his artistic training at the Nuremberg School of Applied Arts , received his license to manufacture wooden gallantry goods on January 3, 1868, and became a citizen on April 19, 1869, and worked in August Kreling's studio . From 1875 he was a professor at the Nuremberg School of Applied Arts and headed the class for ornamental modeling until 1910.
Rößner was among others the teacher of Konrad Taucher and Georg Gröne .

- 1890/1896 model of two marble vases in the Nuremberg city park in memory of the 1st German Singing Festival in 1861 and in memory of the Bavarian State Exhibition, Nuremberg (design by Friedrich Wanderer, model Rößner, executed by Johann Schiemer)

- 1899 sculpture "Lamentation of Christ" on the grave of the Schlippe family, Leipzig-Gohlis

- 1909 Städtlerbrunnen in memory of Sebald Städtler , Roth
- He also created numerous portrait busts of Nuremberg personalities such as Theodor von Cramer-Klett , Lothar von Faber and his wife Baroness Berta von Faber.
- A large number of grave monuments and epitaphs have been preserved at the Johannisfriedhof and Rochusfriedhof .
Most of Rößner's works are made of bronze and were executed by the Lenz art foundry .
