Johannes Anton Larraß (born December 4, 1832 in Dresden ; † July 30, 1908 there ) was a Saxon lieutenant general .

Life

Larraß joined the Saxon Cadet Corps in 1849 . On April 1, 1853 he was appointed Portepeejunker and as such subordinated to the 8th Infantry Battalion in Schneeberg . From this and the 7th battalion, which was located in Marienberg , the 6th Infantry Regiment was formed in 1867 .

With the handover of the officer's epaulettes , Larraß was transferred to the 12th Infantry Battalion in Wurzen on September 1, 1853 . He also served as a lieutenant in the 10th and 16th Infantry Battalions. He attended the General Staff School from 1856 to 1858 and on May 1, 1859 he was promoted to first lieutenant . As such, on November 1, 1865, he became adjutant of the 3rd Infantry Brigade “Prince Georg”.

During the German War of 1866, Larraß was appointed captain and company commander in the 10th Infantry Battalion in Vienna . After the incorporation of the Saxon Army into the North German Confederation , he became an economic officer in the newly formed 7th Infantry Regiment "Prince Georg" . On January 1, 1869, he became a company commander in this regiment.

On January 1, 1870, Larraß was appointed director of the Saxon War Ministry. He held this position during the entire campaign of 1870/71 . On August 1, 1871, he was promoted to head of department. Larraß spent nine years in the War Ministry. During this time he was promoted to major (1874) and lieutenant colonel (1878).

On March 1, 1880, Larraß resigned from the ministry, entered service and was given command of the 2nd Battalion of the Grenadier Regiment "Kaiser Wilhelm, King of Prussia" (2nd Royal Saxon) No. 101 . Thirteen months later he was promoted to colonel and appointed commander of the 6th Infantry Regiment No. 105 in Strasbourg , on which he published an extensive monograph in 1887. He was the commander of this regiment for over six years before he was promoted to major general in 1887 and took command of the 2nd Infantry Brigade No. 46. After the resignation of the city commandant of Dresden, O'Byrn in 1890, Larraß took over this post.

On January 22, 1892 Larraß was appointed lieutenant general of the army and put up for disposition . He spent his retirement in Dresden. He died in 1908 and was buried in the north cemetery.

Honor position

He was appointed honorary president of the 105th Infantry Regiment and took over the honorary presidency of the annual regiment day.
