In 1998 he founded the ska band Nebrasska , wrote a number of songs and arrangements for the group and was the co-producer of four CD publications. After graduating from high school, he completed an apprenticeship as a media designer for image and sound at Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR) in Munich with a focus on sound engineering and sound design . At BR he also composed and produced several sound collages , radio plays and short films . From 2005 to 2006 he was employed there as a sound engineer and production assistant and at the same time gained his first experience as a stage composer.
From 2006 to 2010 Hofmann studied music at the Berlin University of the Arts (including composition with Daniel Ott and trumpet with Konradin Groth ) and history at the Humboldt University . His long-term collaboration with director Antú Romero Nunes began during his studies, and in 2010 it took them back to their Swabian homeland at the Lindenhof Theater in Melchingen, where they realized Kleist's Michael Kohlhaas . Hofmann also worked on this stage with the director Philipp Becker , among other things for an experimental version of Karl Schönherr's Der Weibsteufel .
The collaboration with Antú Romero Nunes led Hofmann to the Komische Oper Berlin , Bayerische Staatsoper Munich, the Grand Théâtre de Genève , the Burgtheater Vienna , the Schauspielhaus Zurich , the Thalia Theater Hamburg , the Maxim-Gorki-Theater in Berlin and the theater Frankfurt .
Since 2006 he has been working as a composer, musical director and producer for opera, theater and radio play productions.
